News from Stroubles Mill

While our Garden Chair was out of town in June, the Garden Committee selected her family’s serene setting as the Garden of the Month. Structural as well as botanical elements seamlessly surround the front and back of the Carver’s home at 4007 Tall Oaks Dr. A petite, white picket fence partially encloses their front yard and a similar fence flanks the arbor adorned in pale pink roses in their backyard. A whimsical, concrete snail planter filled with trailing succulents at the base of the arbor greets admirers. A fresh, verdant lawn accompanies a delightful repetition of towering trees, evergreen shrubs, perennials, and annuals. Of special note, hydrangeas blooming in a simple shade of cerulean blend with the beautiful spring sky. Additionally hostas, lilies, ferns, astilbes, and coral-bells harmonize with rhododendrons, azaleas, and hollies. The Carvers also color their landscape with window flower boxes containing annuals that fall, sprawl, and grow tall. The Carvers’ gardens look especially lovely on the eve of summer and we thank them for sharing it with us. Additionally, the Garden Committee wishes to recognize the extensive perennial plantings at the Hirsh’s at 3009 Stradford Lane and the Williams at 3007 Wakefield and their rejuvenated landscape featuring a pond.
